Lord,
I pray for this beautiful child. I pray that she allows you to be the source of her strength throughout her life. She saved me. You know this; she was your divine plan. I had other plans. Plans to devote my life to my career and travel the world with my new husband. Still, You saw fit for her to come into our lives. That beautiful spring afternoon on the two-lane highway that stretches across mountain views, farm land, and what many people call God's Country, You came to me. You made me be still as I pulled to the side of the road. I cried out to you, Lord. I needed You. You said to me, "My plan is greater. Let me drive." That day, I handed it all to You.
Lord, I've known of You my whole life. I learned about You in Bible school, prayed before meals and bedtime, and listened as people talked about Heaven. I had even asked You into my heart years before. In that moment, though, I came to You for the first time, handing it all over to You. I selfishly wanted to hold on to the timeline I had written for my life, but Lord, it is all for You and Your glory. I felt You chisel away my selfishness and worries of the unknown. I felt at peace for I knew You had plans for me. Millions of people in the world and You are writing a story for me, just a girl in a small town, fresh out of college. Five months later I kissed the face of the child that brought me to You. She has no idea just how special she is.
Nearly six years later, I look into those sweet blue eyes, surrounded by golden bouncy curls, and I see Your story. Far greater than anything I could have ever written. And I am still and I praise You for the most precious gift You could ever give someone- a tangible reminder of my surrender to You. This life is not my own. You have placed me on this Earth, to give You honor and glory. To strive each day to be more like You.

She wonders about You. She wants to know about Heaven, who is there, and how to get there. She asks about Your Son and how He rose from the grave. Greatest of all, she will randomly ask in the car or lying in bed at night how do You, a God so big, get in her tiny, precious heart. Lord, I see You working on her little soul everyday. I praise You and I pray that she will come to know You as her Lord and Savior. I pray she will fully live the story You are writing just for her. Because Lord, this child, growing in my womb on that beautiful spring afternoon, is my most favorite chapter in mine.
Your daughter,
Emily
